Toy - I was at Brainshare, and I was impressed by the product developments and the attitude I saw in the Novell people who presented, and others who I had discussions with. They are in the midst of a difficult transition, but have some good ideas.

A year ago, I was excited enough about NOVL's prospects to take a big position in the stock. That evenutally paid off, but it was a rough ride, and I have no position in NOVL now. I have been disappointed not in their technology development, but in their ability to execute in the marketplace.

I thought the deal with CMGI was significant, and if NOVL can develop a presence as a key provider in the next generation of internet expansion, they will be fine. But they need someone who can actually sell the products...

I might take a LEAP position if the premiums drop a bit more, but will probably stay away from an equity stake for now.
