I think in their minds "freedom" outweighs every other consideration. For example, I've seen articles about the Pedro Pan children, and other people who were children in totalitarian states, who say they think their parents made the right choice to send them here or emigrate with them. However, in those cases it was the PARENTS' decision. Juan Miguel is vilified because he is not making the "right" decision, i.e. stay in the US. I too wish he would stay here with his family (though G*d knows he probably wouldn't want to live in Miami :-/) but since he is a good and loving father that should be his choice to make.

The reason I am disturbed by the situation is because I do not think it is in the spirit of democracy to allow a government official to use force to get what he wants and justifying his use of force on public opinion polls, and not the Constitution.
