Looks like more good news for ADI/Aware. Efficient uses ADI in some of their Speedstream products (3020 PCI ADSL, 4020 USB ADSL, 5010 ENET ADSL, 5621 ENET ADSL). They also use Alcatel and TI, so I don't know what the breakdown is. Either way, splitting $45 million is still a lot of modems and equipment. Efficient Networks, Inc. This is the largest single purchase of DSL equipment to date for Efficient Networks. Over the past 6 months, Efficient Networks has shipped over $26 million in DSL CPE to SBC Communications. Today, Efficient announced that it has received over $45 million in new purchase orders from SBC, further confirming SBC's position as Efficient Networks' largest customer. Efficient provides four different types of DSL products to SBC, ranging from cost-effective single user DSL modems, to high performance DSL routers that provide broadband access for businesses. These SpeedStream DSL products are available in all of SBC's operating regions: Pacific Bell, Nevada Bell, Southwestern Bell, Ameritech and SNET. Last year SBC announced Project Pronto, a more than $6 billion initiative intended to transform SBC into America's largest single broadband provider and create a platform to introduce a host of next-generation, broadband-powered services. Project Pronto will make SBC's DSL service available to an estimated 77 million Americans - 80 percent of SBC's wireline customers. The initiative is expected to make SBC America's largest single broadband provider. Efficient's SpeedStream DSL products operate at speeds up to 50 times faster than older dial-up modem technology. And, unlike dial-up Internet access, DSL is an "always-on" technology that allows customers to remain connected to the Internet constantly.. DSL uses the same copper phone lines that run into almost every home and office, and enables customers to be on the phone and Internet simultaneously. The high-speed and always-on nature of DSL enhances many new applications such as streaming audio and video, online gaming, distance learning and telecommuting. In the near future, DSL will enable integrated voice and data applications, and will serve as a cost-effective, high performance platform for many new broadband services for consumers and businesses.
