You make some good points. Hypothetically, if the boy gains asylum, wouldn't those wholesale immigration issues be moot? Couldn't a family here argue that this is a better environment for the child?

The argument that many here are presenting is completely ludicrous. It is not up to the US government or any other government to dictate that a parent is unfit simply because they do not share the same political views.

The way a communist parent may be deemed unfit, the same argument can be used to by Democrats towards Republicans or vice versa Republicans towards Democrats. Are children to change parents based on the government of the day???

It can also be argued that fat parents are unfit. Or, short parents. What about parents with a handicap? And, God forbid, what if someone suggests that parents who post on SI are unfit? IT NEVER ENDS.
