Thanx for defending me, hon, but I would hope my silence was my best defense. I guess I need to say something and then I think we'll just leave it. For anyone to say or imply that my defense of people who've been attacked on this thread, and my request that this attacking stop or the person stop posting for a while (a while allows a cooldown, I consider that fair, not mean), is due to a personal vendetta against that person because they didn't give me the kind of advice I wanted to hear (whatever that would be) because I lost all my $ is just plain old incorrect. I thought I might be in a small margin call--as it turned out I was, theoretically, for one day. I.E. if I'd done nothing my portfolio was permanently out of it in 24 hours. I put a chunk in cash anyway, in fear & trembling <g> and I'm keeping it there. In the last few weeks my portfolio was definitely "somewhat quashed" as I posted on G&K thread recently. That seems to be true of almost all of us who were heavily in tech stocks. I still am way ahead of where I was last year and I'm taking the summer off to write my 2nd book. I still think the market is a gift and I'm glad to be in it. I just am more cautious.

During that time almost everybody I turned to for advice or interpretation of what was happening in the market, was gracious and gave me a lot of time and perspective. It was very helpful. I've posted that on this thread before. Disappointment in one person for not giving that is not akin to a personal vendetta. And that is indeed the word I used at the time. I don't see the point of making that public.

Done. No more posting on this subject. I'm sure it bores almost everybody else here. Thanx. EOM! :-)

I support your express right to work to keep the thread civil and not personal (in the negative sense).

Contrary to what some people say, I do think that you have a special right (and obligation) as one of the thread founders to help preserve the proper conduct of this thread.

I would suggest that others who do not agree ought to go start their own thread and see how many people come and post over there.

Regards,

Loffy

Looks like a little bottom of the hour rally took hold.

My view is that since Jill and I started, and run this thread as we see fit, those people who are not willing to discuss options, engage in a little personal banter, and do so respectfully can find other places to post.

Poet:

I respectfully disagree with you. You and Jill started the thread, kudos to both of you. You invited ed, myself and Rose and other respected contributors to option trading to participate in your new thread. In the early stages the thread prospered because of the contributions of those seasoned investors. Newbies came to the thread to learn new ideas.

If you think that by starting the thread you make yourself a self-appointed managers, you are far from right. People are bound by SI terms of use and not by Poet of Jill's code of ethics or personal preference of favoritism. As I stated, you are not the judge and jury of this thread. And you cannot insist on your personal value judgement what is mean or cynical or what is acceptable (please let me know if you need examples). There will be disagreements, let it be, as I said, that will bring the best from each of us.

I have discussed with you how a thread die. If you want to continue to motherhenning this thread that is up to you, but you will lose valuable contributors. Now you have lost ed, one of the finest and seasoned investor. Where were you when he was lynched by several on this thread. Seems that your value judgement condoned that. I hope that you can follow my point that if you so claim to manage this thread, you did not show objectivity. I did expect better from you in this regard.

I do not disclose any PM on this thread. All information presented can be found publicly on this thread, which I can provide the link if you so choose.
