I agree, its amazing that the only discussion of Avanex has been in the vien of "testing the veracity of the GTR". No one has mentioned the technology (which is the intended focus of the report). If Pat wants to find answers to questions how about we start with how the PowerMux will mesh with the optical switches being proposed like Ciena's CoreDiector. What are the implications of the PowerMux on MEMS based switches now in development at Nortel(Xros) and JDS Uniphase(Cronos). Who are the companies best situated to benefit from the return to 'telco-esque circuit switched' topology and are there any obvious companies whose current product portfolio would complement with Avanex's. Gilder also mentions the possibility of disruption from the optical waveguides being developed by Bookham-lets look into this threat. Pat hasn't directed much effort into the verification of the PowerMux's nifty feature of manipulating wavelengths by frequency rather than size. It must be because discussion of anything other than the aforementioned technical issues is simply a waste of time. Let's not be distracted by agendas, and return our focus to the technology. fwiw jeremic
