The encounter with ole49r leads me to that conclusion that I have a lot to learn about people.

Frank,
I teach a course on people like Ole49er. Maybe I can invite him for demonstration purposes! (It's a graduate course on personality disorders...particularly narcissistic personalities...if you look up the definition in the book, there's a full color picture of Ol 49er!)

It was on the ELON thread that I put Ol 49er on Ignore a week or two ago. He's only the second person that I've done that to on SI. He thinks that he is very smart, but we all know that he is sofa king we Todd it.

<<It's sad to find bright ones who devote their energy to destructive purposes, but I'd imagine it comes as no surprise to you.>>

No surprise, but no real explanation either. My field (security studies) deals with how to protect oneself from such types, but doesn't pretend to understand what makes them tick. (The attempts to mix psychology with security policy have been generally disappointing. Two fuzzy social sciences combined usually add up to less than one...)

Dr. Id's course sounds interesting.

PS never thought I'd see you and J&P all loveydovey again...these virtual communities are some crazy places, ain't they?

It's no wonder he brags about being one of the most bookmarked posters on SI.

Bookmarked? Or Ignored?

"Perhaps it derives from the "Primus inter pares" or first among equals." Sounds like a definition of wives.

"the marvels of quantum investing". which explains investing in AMD options and buying ELON at the high water mark.

Would somebody please contact Downsouth and tell him it's time to get back in the saddle. Weddings and the Naz meltown are no excuses.

cuf,

Re: "ole49r" aka lots of things

<< The encounter with ole49r leads me to that conclusion that I have a lot to learn about people >>

Whoa,

Say What?

Just back from Miami, and have 2,000 posts yet to catch up, (I always start with the Curmudgeon thread, first) but is somebody here tangling with Rose?

Good luck, if so!

I am dying to see the exchange

Just for laughs ask her how Molten Metal (MLTN) is doing. Better yet go back and catch up the last 6 months of that thread.
