Venture Catalyst Incorporated (Nasdaq:VCAT), a full-service consultant and incubator for emerging businesses that focuses on venture services, today announced the addition of two San Diego high-tech executives to the Company's Advisory Panel.
John Major and Peter Shaw will assist Venture Catalyst in identifying promising technology trends for investment, and serve as mentors to emerging companies in which the Company invests.

John Major currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Wireless Internet Solutions Group. Previously, Major was President and Chief Executive Officer of Wireless Knowledge, a QUALCOMM and Microsoft joint venture, which he joined in November 1998. Prior to joining Wireless Knowledge, Mr. Major served as Corporate Executive Vice President of QUALCOMM, and President of QUALCOMM's Wireless Infrastructure Division. Major also held several executive positions at Motorola from 1977 until 1997, after which he joined QUALCOMM.
Major also serves as a Director of Littlefuse and Lennox Corporations, is a member of the Board of Directors' Executive Committee of the Telecommunications Industry Association, and is Chairman of the Electronics Industry Association. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Rochester, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, and holds a Master of Business Administration with distinction from Northwestern University. He also holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University. Major received an honorary doctorate from Westminster College in 1995.
Peter Shaw was most recently the Executive Vice President, Corporate Development for NetObjects. Prior to joining NetObjects, Shaw was Chairman, CEO and President of Sitematic Corporation. From December 1995 to June 1997, Shaw was Senior Vice President of NetManage, where he was responsible for the Company's international operations and key North American accounts. From August 1989 to November 1995, Shaw was President and CEO of AGE Logic, an Intranet connectivity software company that he founded and subsequently sold to NetManage. From September 1976 to February 1983, he was founder, President, and CEO of Megatek Graphic Systems. Mr. Shaw holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Connecticut.
