This does not describe any of the short sellers that I know; indeed, my impression is exactly the opposite.

Tell me, have you met many short sellers recently or are you basing your observations on a couple of people that you met 20 years ago?

Hey OLDTRADER, getting cranky in your old age?? Shorting is just another way to make money. What ya gonna do in a bear market?? Think about the last month. If you had SHORTED MICROSOFT instead of loading up, and SHORTED DELL instead of buying 94,000 shares just before the NASDAQ meltdown, would you have not been better off covering now and going long???
