Alcatel is a great story and importantly the numbers are backing the story. Unfortunately one of the few stocks I own that does this so I couldn't be happier. All those bulls out there who have been following Lucent and Nortel will no longer be able to discuss those companies without mentioning Alcatel in the same sentence. Analysts in Europe should also now look more favourably upon the Newbridge acquisition with successive quarters of better than expected numbers. So that should also assist pushing ALA back to it's pre-acquisition highs in Paris.

IPO is good news and will further recruit the "pure telco" players.

The only possible obstacle to proper coverage of this company, and you can already see this in the press, is that analysts don't know whether to see it as a "mobile phone" company like Nokia and Ericsson or a "telco infrastructure" company like Lucent and Nortel. My perceptions are that analysts cover either one or the other but I could be wrong.
