OT Archbishops and Primates

Several of the European Roman Catholic clerical leaders use "Primate" in their titles, although it hasn't been used in the US, to the best of my knowledge. Cardinal Hume of Westminster (London) is the Primate of the United Kingdom, for example. Perhaps it derives from the "Primus inter pares" or first among equals by which they earlier styled themselves.
