At the risk of perpetuating the conflict, I will give my final perspective before dropping it. Since I was part of the recent thread bruhaha, I feel a bit justified in giving my perspective.

First, I came to this thread knowing nothing, zilch, nada, about options. I still know next to nothing about options, if anything I only have a little learning, which as we all know can be a dangerous thing. But this thread has helped me tremendously to understand the potential and the risks involved in this type of investment. I have appreciated the posts from experts like you, ed, rose, and others in understanding this complex sugbject. I have also appreciated the posts from newbies and the many questions that have been posed on this thread. Bottom line, for me it has been extremely valuable.

Now, about the conflicts. I believe the mother henning that you are objecting to is not quite fair, in that J&P have not been trying to moderate this thread for its content, but only to keep it amicable. If they were trying to censor posts to bias the thread towards any one strategy, any one company, etc, then I would object as strenuosly as anyone. But they are not doing that. They are only trying to keep the peace in a very difficult environment.

Now, don't take this the wrong way, but you, who knows a great deal about options, has mainly been posting about thread management lately. It is unfortunate that the time and effort you have taken to make all of these posts has not helped me or anyone else to increase our understanding of options. Yes, you are upset, and we are all OT many times, but there comes a point where further discussion about the same thing is counterproductive.

One last thing, just for clarification. I have used the word gamble a few times and I am increasingly realizing that this is inflammatory in an options discussion. I apologize for the use of that word, and would only add that I use the word in a game-theoretical sense and it have no negative connotation to me, other than the risk dimension. I know little about options, but my doctorate is in stochastic processes, so I tend to think in terms of probabilities, risk, gambling games, etc.

I hope you take this post in a positive way, which is the way it is intended. I appreciate the knowledge of posters like yourself and would ask that you and others keep posting and helping to educate us all.

Regards, and good investing.
