the reason is that DROOY needs a bigger move in the PoG. it really only becomes interesting from an earnings potential standpoint when the PoG looks like it can stay above say 300 for a while. the current PoG is not enough to move DROOY. when there's an incipient move in gold, the lower cost producers are always the first to rally...the marginals get bought later, but then tend to rally much faster.

To solve this problem you need to examine why the XAU can diverge from the price of gold.
On 5/2 AU was frigid but the XAU was white hot from the opening.

It's the who is buying? that supplies the answer both to why the XAU moves before Gold and why DROOY is not initially served at the emperors feast.

It is because he is too small to be consumed by those at the table!
