valueman is famous for pumping with any number that he pulls out of thin air. Just ignore his data. On the other hand, most who still invest in T have no idea how far time has passed them by.

Ultimately, nothing will beat fiber. Both cable and xDSL architectures have the effect of bringing fiber closer to the home. In this sense, cable and xDSL are transition architectures, where the transition may last at least two decades.
Maybe you should take a quick peek at NVXE. They may have the solution to phone lines and broadband. Although not proven for total phone line they have got 51Mbps over 3500 feet and working towards 27000 feet (that's more than enough to cover 80% of the phone market in America!!!!)
