Duke - that sounds like the Armada M300 which I just got last week - 500MHz, 12 GB hard drive, 312 MB RAM, 1024 by 768 display, built in modem and ethernet, USB, and all only an inch thick and a couple of pounds... it easily goes in my briefcase along with all my usual junk, and runs over 4 hours on one battery charge. The "base" snaps on and off without taking the computer down and adds floppy, DVD/CD and some other stuff - including another battery if you want to go 10 hours without a re-charge. And it runs Win2K as well as Win98.

But that puppy is not cheap... base unit is $1699, and with all the stuff I got it was over $3K. Not to be confused with the V300, which lists on the web site for $1399...
