first of all, what knee-jerk response? i merely showed you in what way it is simply nonsensical to expect such growth for decades to come. it is a mathematical impossibility.

apart from that, from what i hear the competition is making big inroads. admittedly i'm no expert on this subject but every time i criticize the valuation of JNPR people are telling me that they are supposedly in the process of eating CSCO's lunch.

in any case, i admit it's a great company - no doubt about that. but the valuation of its stock is just plain silly.

as with many tech darlings it's a function of the bubble that is in turn a function of the massive money supply growth of recent years. note that CSCO had a very high, but in terms of its growth reasonable p/e for years before the bubble began in earnest.
