> but the fact is I have never sold a Mining Stock for a loss yet

I wish I could say that, but I have been trading gold stocks since 1981.
Of course I had one stock go from 69 cents to $9.25, which makes up for a lot of mistakes.
I have traded ABX 5 times in the last 18 months for 5 gains, no losses.

> PS The day of the BOE announcement last year was on my birthday, May 7.

I clearly recall that day (and Happy Birthday !).
I sold all my ABX on 5/6/99 at 23.25 (sheer luck) and bought it all back on 5/18/99 at $17.75.
It is always nice to avoid a $5.50 drop !

Rarebird,
Happy birthday, and I hope you get a different "birthday present" this year, VBG.

Also, keep up that good trading record!

I don't think it will take $500 gold for such a turnaround. If gold makes it through $300 on a sustained basis it will, IMHO, completely change the outlook for the sector. This small rally in the face of the Swiss sales is encouraging. I note what you say about Hutch - Hutch if you read this - don't feel bad if gold actually rises in price in spite of your dire opinions to the contrary! The x factor is the demand side. d
