Mr. Terry Smith reports
The company has formed an alliance with CarStation.com, which will enable the company to leverage the Internet to exchange information with customers and suppliers. CarStation.com provides e-commerce solutions to the automotive service industry and operates a collision repair e-commerce hub at www.CarStation.com.
Initially, through the CarStation SiteManager product, the company's U.S.-based collision repair centres will build and maintain a Web site tailored specifically for each shop and use Web-based E-mail to communicate with customers and business partners. The company's Web sites will be accessible to consumers and insurers via CarStation's hub at www.CarStation.com, as well as through a series of affiliated Internet sites. Planned initiatives include the deployment of CarStation SiteManager to the company's Canadian shops later this year, as well as on-line parts procurement and customer and insurer communication and transaction processing.
"By aligning with CarStation, we are allowing our repair shops to lay the foundation for competing in the new economy while greatly enhancing our ability to serve customers," said Brock Bulbuck, senior vice-president and chief operating officer.
"We are very excited to be working with The Boyd Group, enabling their shops to use the Internet to effectively serve their customers," CarStation founder and president Charlie Moore said. "A partnership with such a large and notable collision industry leader is a tremendous addition to our automotive service community."
The company is the largest operator of collision-repair shops in Canada and among the largest in North America and is the only publicly traded collision-repair company in North America. In addition to its 52 company-owned locations, the company also has eight third-party owned licensed locations operating under its trade names. The company continues to successfully carry out its proven strategy of acquiring additional company-owned locations as part of its plan to be a leader in the consolidation of the highly fragmented North American collision-repair industry, recently estimated to be approximately $40-billion in annual revenue.
