Robert, I also sent them the suggestion that they give free memberships to those nominated. If the people are good, why limit them to just a few boards when their interests change? I believe people can view SI free. Why charge people to provide the valuable content that makes a board? -Z

Robert, I think that the biggest problem with moderated threads, in which the thread instigator has a veto power on the posters is that we will develop a lot of "uni-informational" threads. The give and take and the enlightening arguments between opposing sides will disappear.

I can understand the wish of getting rid off of nuisance posters (both on the pro and con side), but in many threads, I fear that too much power in the hands of the moderator will infringe on first amendment rights of dissent.

I can name at least ten threads where I will be forbidden from posting under these new arrangements.

There should be at least a nominal voting by threads reader to excommunicate a poster, and a serious majority (maybe 80%) should be obtained. All, IMHO, of course.
