(the ``Company'') is pleased to announce that the Semhari East-1 oil exploration well in Algeria has reached a final total depth of 3,900 metres and wireline logging operations have commenced. The Semhari East-1 well is being drilled on a large 85,000 acre mega-structure feature located on the Hassi Bir Rekaiz concession. A previous well, the Semhari-1 (SMR-1), confirmed the petroleum potential of the structure testing over 2000 BOPD from the Triassic and Ordovician reservoirs. The Semhari East-1 well is being drilled 10 km to the east of the discovery well in order to confirm the eastward extension of the field. An additional delineation well will be drilled immediately following the SMRE-1 well to determine the northern limits of the field. The Hassi Bir Rekaiz concession is located on the northern flank of the prolific Berkine Basin where oil discoveries in excess of 4 billion barrels have recently been made by Agip, Talisman / Burlington, Cepsa, BHP and Anadarko. Santa Catalina's 50% owned subsidiary, Santa Catalina (Algeria) Ltd., holds a 25% interest in the Hassi Bir Rekaiz concession. ARCO Ghadames Inc. is the operator holding a 50% interest.
