ALSC as a value play???

DJ, Do you believe that the UMC investment is something that can be bartered?

That is, say someone wanted fab capacity at UMC and some share ownership in UMC would facilitate the negotiations. Could UMC shares be bartered at the current share price without impacting trading volume/share price on the exchanges? It would seem that the UMC holdings could be a blessing with the only downsides being an overshoot in fab expansion world-wide, another earthquake or further political instability in Taiwan.

I am not suggesting that ALSC would want to decrease their interest in UMC. I hope that DRAM and SRAM demand continues to escalate.

BTW, I bought a Dell desktop this week with 256MB of RAM to help manage/manipulate my digital photos and in preparation of purchasing a digital videocamera and home editing software. I also bought a CD-R drive and wanted a larger allocation of RAM as a buffer.
