GVTucker,
It would be a big surprise if an index as broad as the S&P 500 didn't have more consistent growth rates than a single company in that index. The fact remains that even at the reduced rate of ~30% Dell will be growing earnings at 2 or 3 times the S&P 500's projected rate of 10 to 15%.
