I thought that your post was a sensitive and plausible defense of Nixon the man. I might not agree with all of it, but I won't hesitate to respect what strikes me as a carefully considered opinion. And I agree that it would be very refreshing if we could find politicians who would act against their platforms not so much for staying aligned with shifts in public sentiment, but in response to an evolving appreciation of the country's mid- to long-term interests. (If entering the Office doesn't change a man, we picked the wrong man.) Shame that doesn't win votes anymore.
