>> the recent cuf/P/J threadleader coalition against edamo

Take that back, tekboy.

I have never coalesced with Poet or Jill.

I'm a happily married man.

If you slow down your speed reading to the comprehension level, you'll note that I have not "sided" with P&J. My discussions with edamo revolve around an entirely different set of issues, which only coincidentally came to the forefront in the midst of the food fight on the Options thread.

The knock-down-drag-out between P&J and edamo is over thread control, which was the very same platform from which P&J attempted to hang me. But they were on the other side of the issue back then. I'm envious that great debaters can support either of two diametrically opposed positions with equal skill, while less gifted people like me are stuck on one side.

'and there were endless discussions about who should be posting'

Ah come on tekboy.Don't you deep down inside want to follow a dictator. This thread is becoming real soft. If cuf wont accept the appointment, perhaps clb might?
Today one thread on SI, tomorrow the whole financial sector. Then we could even kick dirt in their face.

On the other hand food fights are a way to release aggression

During the fall we had some major crises on the thread

I remember, tekboy. I wasn't actively posting at the time, but I was lurking. It was a sad situation.

I'm not really advocating locking people out of the thread, but I'm also not so sure it wouldn't have been appropriate in this case. This situation was different from the thread wars last fall. This wasn't a difference of opinion among several people about what the thread should be about -- this was one person coming in and being disruptive and disrespectful to everyone on the thread (even those brave individuals who tried to have a civil discussion with her -- kudos to Merlin in this respect, though I honestly don't know where he gets his patience).

UF is correct, though. If someone becomes too impossible, SI Administration is there to take care of it, and if it isn't bad enough for SI Admin, it probably isn't all that bad.

Boy, that didn't sound very curmudgeonly at all, did it? I see I'm going to have to work at this... <g>
