(OT)RobertG.: You sure did your handicapping homework. I'm not really a "chalk" player, so the favorite, Fuschici Pegasus, doesn't excite me. Now "Big Red", Secretariat is another matter. I've done OK over the years, harness racing, by placing a bob or two on overlays...and there are always a few on a 10-12 race card. So, if the 9-5 favorite goes to post at 3-2 or 5-2, I'd sure take a good look. It's the others that interest me; Commendable, morning line 5-1 may be worth a look at 8 or 10 to 1. Capt. Steve, morning line 8 to 1 may be worth a wager if he goes off at 15 to 1.
The Deputy, Chris McCarron aboard at 4-1 may be very interesting at 6 or 7 to 1. And High Yield, 5 to 1 morning line with Pat Day in the saddle may attract a few dollars at 6 to 1....I have far more confidence in the track's handicapper (usually) than in the crowd's choice, especially in a race like the DERBY. And given two or three fairly equal horses, I'll typically go with the better jockey. So who do I like? Can't really tell you until close to post time when I see the near-final odds. Hope you catch a winner though. (Lee)
