Kemble and all, Pesatori is leaving CPQ. He was one of the supposed;y loyal, golden haired boys who was in line for CEO. THAT spells a lot of trouble for CPQ. If he wanted to leave, he should have left with Pfeiffer and Mason and spared himself the humiliation of the last few months. Fez _____________________________ Friday May 5, 5:51 pm Eastern TimeCompaq rejigs enterprise group, Pesatori leaves NEW YORK, May 5 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ - news) said on Friday it reorganized its Enterprise Solutions and Services Group (ESSG) and that Enrico Pesatori, the group's senior vice president and group general manager, is leaving the company. Pesatori was named on Friday as chief executive of Synaxia Networks, a developer of new technologies for servers, which are computers that manage other networks of computers, and storage. Three ESSG divisions now report directly to Compaq President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Capellas. These business units include Industry Standard Servers, Business Critical Servers, and Storage Products. Compaq also combined its services divisions into its worldwide sales organisation. Professional services, as well as customer services, now report to Peter Blackmore, senior vice president, sales and services. The move was part of Capellas' strategy, laid out last year, to put an increased focus on servers, storage and services to capture new growth as PC sales cool. ``These professional services are often what lead the sale,'' said Compaq spokesman Jim Finlaw. ``This is taking a capability and making it more available to the consumer.'' Pesatori, who was president of Tandem Computers until it was acquired by Compaq in 1997, said in a statement that he saw Synaxia as a great opporunity. ``Synaxia products address some of the most relevant issues in technology today--the explosive growth of data, the relentless increase in Internet usage, and the constant demand for higher bandwidth,'' he said. ``The company is well funded with abundant international assets and with its aggressive product development cycle,'' he said. ``Synaxia is emerging as the technology leader in the rapidly evolving Networked Attached Storage (NAS) market.'' Prior to joining Tandem, Pesatori was vice president and general manager of the computer systems division at Digital Equipment Corp. Pesatori, who was born in Italy, also spent may years with the Italian computer and electronics firm Ing. C. Olivetti & C. S.p.A, and was president and CEO of personal computer maker Zenith Data Systems.
