I haven't been following this thread too closely but it seems to me that the Ignitus acquisition was not just another ATM switch but an ATM/Optical component. Lucent sells a ton of CBX500/GX550 ATM switches to CLECs, Carriers, etc. As these customers optical needs grow - what choices did Lucent have beyond ON5000s? These don't come near the VC requirements needed. Looks like Ignitus fits nicely here....
