No language barrier here. . . I can share a story from the waning days of the Tokyo bull market in 1989 that may shed some light on the situation. As the fundamentals began to deteriorate in late 1989, often I would call Japan and check in to see how my short position was doing (I was short Tokyo throughout 1989). The news would be bad, and the situation would be dire, and the market would be going up.

My broker there explained to me that what we were seeing was a "f***-it" rally. As he explained it, the thought process was this: The news is bad, the situation is dire, might as well just say, "f*** it, let's buy 'em."
