In retail, the business is based on holidays and weekends. Mother's day is coming this Sunday.

AMES higher than normal losses are due to their continuing investments which they write off in conservative accounting. The new store openings cost money and the new internet ventures will not see return of investment for quite a while. But it is necessary expenses. Cost control, however, could minimize the damage and create a leap into higher profitability in the near future, which is the X'mas season.

Fundamentally, AMES is a strong buy, but season to season profitability has never been AMES' strong points. AMES has been geared to be a growth company and therefore is riskier if you don't have firm believe in their management. I do. And most stockholders do; that's why we have a technical imbalance which cause the stock to pull back. It may take quite a while to work out of overbought.
