CD-ROMs, Harddisks and other storage devices use SRAM as "cache" memory to increase system performance.
I believe most Compact Flash products already use small amount of SRAM for buffering. I guess it is possible to include Cache memory in CF or PC Card. SRAM is fairly expensive and maybe this is why it is not used more widely.
