Keep in mind that Italians are for the most part descendants of Rome. They fought and controlled the Western world for one thousand years. If the fervor for battle was not there during the Second World War there was a reason. They learned to appreciate life to its fullest. Dying over someone else's idiotic cause is a sad waste of life. I guess you could say that Italians no longer have the passion for ruling the world...."Been there, done that". A beautiful woman, a glass of wine and the sound of laughter is a million times better than sitting in a mud filled trench with bullets streaming over your head.
