el paradisio, in october 1997 the new highs peaked on the nyse (don't have the figure 1000-2000?) That was back when everybody was spouting off about the worldwide goldilocks economy (which ushered in the asian crisis - damn those sunshiney people do it everytime -gg-)

in March 00 there were around 50-90 new highs at the nyse/spx peak and around 500 new highs at the nasdaq peak, of course then everybody was touting the new economy and how the nasdaq would double the dow in a year or so.

now let me see in october 97 you had a thousand or so blue chip companies making new highs.

in march 00 you had about 450 speculative no earning genome and net stocks, ipo's making new highs and about a 100 or so blue chips (mostly techs)

draw you own conclusions, and if i'm right, i'll have the cheeky left shoulder to go with the cheeky right shoulder -ggg-

damn those optimists, they fall for that stock split ho ho, i'll give you two fives for your ten and your richer, everytime -g-
