Interesting. I'm sure we'll see press releases Monday morning that will hopefully clear up unanswered questions. The most important being when does the first 11 mbs drive come out in volume? And why do they refer to the 16 mbs drive as the enterprize back-up device? Certainly the 11 mbs drive should be and even the 8 mbs beats DLT 8000 which is used in libraries for enterprise backup.
All these drives are likely to be premium priced, especially with backward read which I beleive will require a redundant set of not so cheap heads. So a backward read 8 mbs transfer rate would appear to have very liitle reason to exist. Will vendors have to go through six qualifications? -Z
