First, Inmarsat serves a lot of customers on dry land, notwithstanding its maritime origins. Second, G* is NOT limited to 200 miles of land, it's technical limitations are determined by a distance from the nearest GW(s) that varies with lattitude, among other things. I think we will find by this time next year that a great majority of the world's shipping lanes are adequately covered by G*, in addition to all of the Caribbean, Mediterranean and N. Atlantic, which will be covered within the next six months.
