Ed and Joe, I seriously doubt if any of the EtherNetworkers would ever buy a FC company. FC's yearly output represents just a few days' production in the Ethernet world. FC's small comparative volume of sales was the same reason that Justin Rattner of Intel used to dispell the notion that Intel would ever buy any FC company (investing in one is a different story).

"They" are ramping to make it all work together though. This from a May 2 Cisco release:

cisco.com

Cisco Introduces the Cisco Metro 1500 Series, MAN DWDM

The Cisco Metro 1500 series is a high reliability, protocol-independent solution for point-to-point, add/drop and ring topologies with up to 32 wavelengths per fiber, which gives network administrators the flexibility to support their existing infrastructure, including Gigabit Ethernet, packet over SONET, ESCON/FICON, ATM and Fiber (sic) Channel.

There's always a profitable middle ground, and protocol-independent plays in any house.
