Allen - My read on the data rates is that they are somewhat but not significantly faster that GPRS, perhaps 20kbps.

No. Much much faster than GPRS. Average burst speed of several hundred kbps, with occasional spikes of >2Mbps.

As for when it is available, small scale trials are now ongoing, with larger loading trials expected 2H this year (in Korea). Expect rollouts 1H 2001 (loading trials to rollout is faster than for a completely new CDMA standard since this is an evolution from CDMAOne).
