There was another woman interviewed on 60 minutes or a programme like it about a year ago, a very articulate educated lady who works or worked with your Foreign Office [or some other branch of government perhaps] - she married a german, they had one or two kids, they lived both in the US and in Germany i believe, then he decided at one point when they were living in the US to return to Germany and to separate with her ... she couldn't even get legal visiting rights ... he was allowing her about an hour a year with them ... there was nothing she could do about it as her position with the government worked against her - they felt they had to avoid any appearance of favouritism and so refused to help her at all.

Truly a black mark against Germany, that their law aids this sort of thing. Also against any government who would not stand up for their citizens in such a battle.
