For the first time today, after listening to Bob B. for 11 years or so, I had to change stations. I could not listen to any more of his shameless and silly hyping of the Disney cruise ship. I'm sure this had something to do with his deal with ABC, but whatever, it was beneath his usual high standards of clearly separating program content from crass commercialism. I guess it just shows that everybody has their price. I hope Bob's was more than just a free cruise with Mickey and Goofy.

Justa: It's just plain goofy to think that the idea of shipboard broadcasts first came from anyone other than our own Mr. GreenJeans.

As we remember, he recently originated a broadcast from the South China Sea and covered those Chinese - Taiwan tensions !

Thanks for the Birinyi link.

Increasingly when I go to a site on the web that uses Doubleclick as an advertising provider I find that it crashes my computer. I do not wish to have DCLK attempt to collect data on me, so I prohibit communication to Doubleclick.com. Two examples of sites that routinely crash my computer are Thomsons and Freeedgar. Well, your Birinyi article goes a step beyond that - it not only crashed my computer when it attempted to contact doubleclick, it destroyed my Windows installation. I am typing this from my backup computer, and am not a happy camper.

Justa: Nice move today, so far, by CFMT. Thanks for getting me interested in it again. In the past I've played it sucessfully several times from the 9 area.

OK, I'm back up and running for the most part. After that Birinyi link I ended up having to reformat my hard drive and reload all my software. I went back to the Birinyi link, but this time declined to accept Java from the site, and it worked fine. I also tried the other doubleclick sites that have been known to consistantly crash my computer (Thomsons,Freeedgar) without Java, and voila, no crashes. I'll be a lot more careful from whom I accept Java in the future.
