Four thousand money managers and corporate clients are
expected to hear top executives from 300 mostly U.S. technology
companies at Chase Hambrecht & Quist's spring technology
conference in San Francisco.
"I think you will hear from a lot of these companies that
business is actually good despite the volatility of the stock
market, said Todd Bakar, director of equity research at Chase
and host of the event.
The schedule is heavy with communications, computer systems
and semiconductor companies on Monday and Tuesday and Internet
consumer, business, and media concerns on Wednesday and
Thursday.

Monday morning's agenda could set the tone for the week as
the conference hears from European wireless leader Nokia
(HELS:NOK1V), Internet software powerhouse Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ:ORCL),
contract manufacturer Solectron Corp. (NYSE:SLR) and
communications chip maker Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE:TXN)
NetWorld+Interop, the premiere event for the Internet
equipment industry taking place this week in Las Vegas, will
draw attention to antidotes many software vendors offer for the
vulnerabilities of the networked world to viral attacks.
The event will open up with a keynote speech on Tuesday by
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Chairman Bill Gates and be highlighted by
speeches from top executives of Cisco Systems, Extreme Networks
Inc. (NASDAQ:EXTR) and Inktomi Corp. (NASDAQ:INKT).
Also on Monday, the four-day National Cable Television
Association conference in New Orleans kicks off. Top cable TV
operators and network equipment providers will rub shoulders
with new media upstarts such as Commerce.TV, iBeam Broadcasting
and VideoPropusion.
America Online (NYSE:AOL) President Bob Pittman and Microsoft
CEO Steve Ballmer are expected to present their competing
visions of Internet television, promoters say.
