I think there was more to it than the one specific point. Enough more to swing the balance of decency. But my memory is doing evil things to me, leaving me in no shape to prosecute my point (without spending so much time as to ruin dinner, and I do not wish to run afoul of the Cook) ... so I will take your good advice and holster it.

I did not call anyone a liar "for being wrong on a specific point." If you show me where you think I did that, I will explain the misunderstanding or apologize.

However, saying that I did might be useful, as it strips away the complexities, so many of which were inculpating to your friends, of the actual historical events.

Incidentally, earlier you said, re decency in the behavior of your friends, that not "all" of their behavior was decent.

Is there an implication that they deserve some commendation or credit because SOME of it was?!

It would be hard to post so prolifically and manage indecency without interruption by decency, I think.

I will answer your post when I can. If included in it is your substantiation of your claim that I "called someone a liar for being wrong on a specific point," I will address it there.

In the meantime stop saying it, please, until you have substantiated it. It did not happen.

What happened was that a person who was wrong on specific points was also, in the bargain and on other points, a liar.

You have begun this discussion, not I. If you and others continue to mischaracterize history in this way, it will go on for a long time. I object strongly to it.
