Hi Marshall,

Welcome to the BTTT thread!

Quick answers to your questions (then I've got to get back to work):

a) yes, signals are as simple as that (though watch out for crossing and uncrossing in volatile markets...I like to check quickly then turn off the computer)

b) I've tried EMA's and find no appreciable difference. In some cases they give more false signals that simple MA's.

c) I use IQCharts historical charts for backtesting. Point and click gives me open, high, low, close for every hour bar

d) investech.com is a great tool for general market direction. You will also do very well to trade their internet stock signals if you take quick profits. Many of their signals turn bad, and those that do get wiped from their screens...so it looks like they have more successful signals than they actually do....but hey, it's a free service.

TC.
