Barry:
$500 million equity investment in Micron. Intel will acquire stock rights exchangeable for common stock representing approximately 6 percent of Micron's outstanding common stock.

Current market cap of MU is $33 B. 6% of that is about $2 B. Intel did very well for itself regardless if MU EVER produces RDRAM. I heard ALex Wong of Intel Capital talk recently. He said Intel looks for investments that have the potential for 10X appreciation. Previously they looked for investments that directly or indirectly benefited their microprocessor business. Now they focus on investing in areas of technology more peripherally related to the microprocessor business. They focus on those areas that have fallen behind the torrid pace of Moore's law and should benefit from a investment by Intel. Namely networking, internet infrastructure and display technology seem to be of interest.
