These foreign patents, as well as the company's Japanese patent, are counterparts of the corresponding U.S. Patents in which the Company holds an interest, covering fundamental techniques for digital recording and playback of audio and video data. The Company previously announced the launch of a formal program to license these patents. The foreign patents will be offered for license along with the Company's U.S. patents. The Company indicated that it has continued to renew and maintain its data compression patents in key foreign countries in the belief that the foreign patents contribute additional value to the patent portfolio that the Company intends to offer for license.
