Ken,

I established another SLR calendar spread (debit 14 3/4)last week to complete my position. AMGN is another good candidate because the near-term IV is usually much higher than the LEAPS IV. Should've kept my position, but the TKT case like a double-edged sword.

With my long calendar spreads, I still often get caught on the short side when the stock goes ballistic. Since I don't like to up my cost basis, I'll usually roll up/out to the LEAPS period and pocket the credit. Any better suggestions? One obvious alternative is to just close the spread for a profit.

Good suggestions on taking advantage of out-of-norm VIX/IV. I need to start using that strategy. Do you know of any free website that has IV info on individual options? Waterhouse used to have a good one, but it's not as useful now after their 'enhancements.' Please share your next play of this sort.
