QS, That's fine with me to agree to disagree. Let me ask you seriously, what are security people suppose to do about VBS or WHS? This is part of BG's business model. It is installed with the operating system. If you have MSWord on your machine, go to the "Tools" menu and choose "Macros", there is the Visual Basic Editor!!! <alt F11> gets you there quicker. There are no options to turn this off! Do you think this hasn't been brought to MS's attention? Do you think the kid new what he was doing when he wrote the virus? Did you look at the code? You say "we do know". That's absurd. Yes, you know about Basic scripting in Windows. I only meant we (security) knew about the scripting as a delivery method. It has been used before and will be used again. Are you seriously trying to tell me you know about all the security holes in Unix networking, including the ones you can't know about because no one knows about them yet? No I am not saying this and I am in total agreement with you on this point. The point I was making is, I would rather find out about them from a delinquent than from a serious saboteur. I can't understand how that's remotely controversial. The love bug kid was a delinquent, not a saboteur. The problem I see with that is that it creates a lot noise. Security on the network is a limited resource. If the security people are running around playing with the "script kiddies" then who is going to catch the real "saboteur". We can agree that the real saboteurs are problably a lot more talented than a script kiddie. It's this mentality that allows the "script kiddies" to run interference for the real "bad guys".
