Bob,

I agree with your comments viz-a viz IBM and their newly refocused storage division. Without sounding like a genderist, I would like to see the lady that now runs that division up against the aggressive and renowned EMC sales force made up of former hockey and football players from Northeastern, Boston College and Boston University that pick people up by the ankles and shake them until they see the merits of EMC products. (Ditto recruitment practices for locations outside of New England) Presumably, Dick Egan, EMC Chairman, still makes over a hundred customer calls a year and he is a tough former marine (Korean vintage). They say there is no such thing as an ex Marine, only former Marines, so maybe he would be up against her, along with the local salesman, if she makes account calls at all. He would pick her off with an old M-1 at about 500 yards before she got to the front door of an account.(rhetoric only for those PC feminists among you that want to berate me for encouraging an assault on female personnel of IBM etc.) Fact is that IBM is a day late, a dollar short and a drink behind with their Shark product, to use some garble from my wild days, but are trying desperately to become something other than number 2, 3, 4 or 5 in everything they undertake. Iron MIke is no pushover from all that I can understand in those situations either.
