Proprietary Development Will Offer "Plug And Play" DSL Installation Plus The Networking Of Limitless Home/Office PCs With Firewall Security
LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2000-- DSL Designs, Inc., a broadband Internet Services Provider, today announced the development of ``DSL Lightning'', an advanced, compact appliance, which can be installed by its customers in less than ten minutes. It can connect every computer in a home or office to the web, at DSL speeds, without picking up a screwdriver. The device can completely and effortlessly network an entire dwelling or office, using Plug-and-Play technology. It can co-exist with Ethernet or USB and will feature Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), HTML or command line configuration and interaction as well as software upgrades via Flash memory.

DSL Lightning will not require any additional cabling or hardware enhancements on the customers premises. It will enable every phone-jack within a home or office to become an instantly accessible, high-speed DSL connection. More importantly, DSL Lightning will be free to all DSL Designs subscribers.

``This appliance development has been a priority of DSL Designs since its inception last year, and we are excited to be able to announce it to the public,'' said Neil Ridlinghafer, President. ``We realized early on that no one was focused on the last few feet of the DSL market. Everyone was developing products for the CLEC's and C.O.'s, leaving the subscribers out in the cold to fend for themselves. We decided to solve this problem. Our goal has been to develop a superior system which would provide all that is required in the 'last five feet' of the DSL connection, a product that would revolutionize home networking, and most importantly, at no additional cost to our customers. We have thoroughly evaluated existing hardware sources and have integrated the best technologies into our product. The unique design concept and enabling software has been solely developed by the DSL Designs team'', he added.

DSL Lightning is presently undergoing final testing and evaluation and expected to be available to DSL Designs customers in the third quarter of this year.

In business for eight months, DSL Designs, Inc. has been making strong inroads into the local Broadband market by setting new standards of customer responsiveness. The company guarantees DSL installations in 14 days, and provides a suite of Internet services unparalleled in the Bay Area.

DSL Designs, Inc. was formed in June of 1999 by a technology team with extensive experience in the Internet environment. The company is presently operating in the San Francisco Bay Area, partnering with GTE and Pac Bell. Soon the operations will be expanded into Nevada, working with Nevada Bell. In addition, DSL Designs plans to open a chain of Cyber Cafes where customers will be able to experience the benefits of DSL Lightning, while enjoying a cup of their favorite coffee. Eventually, the company will deploy their successful Business Model to selected metropolitan areas nationwide.

Are we talking buys or sells? Is there any other info. you have access to? Three 50K blocks are indeed large...and I'd think they were buys if I were to guess.
