Mucho: Since the current spectrum in the US, Japan and elsewhere - such as in North and South America and many parts of Asia outside Japan, will permit CDMA 2000 and the upgrade is underway, testing is underway as you and I post, and the chips are in production and several operators have already agreed to install commercially, doubt "Dead on Arrival" is a particularly descriptive label. Alive and kicking might be a bit closer to the mark. Sure there may be birth pangs, but a long life ahead seems the way it will be.

The only small question is what beyond current spectrum will use CDMA also. And all that is gravy for Qualcomm.

Perhaps you were thinking of WCDMA.

Best.
