JC is a ringer and if you don't think Corel doesn't have its own roving online spamsters then you're not thinking clearly. JC gave himself away with his unwavering support for Corel's #1 problem: management in general and Cowpland in particular. Cowpland unloaded $20,000,000 right before the company released yet-another bad earnings report, not in keeping with his comments before the sale. This time he made a for-stock deal with no downside collar with Borland, then came out with bad earnings. Again, out of phase with the signals being sent regarding sales of "Corel" (sure it is) Linux.

Now, he's tried to paint this as a personal thing because that suites his purpose: deflect criticism by turning the tables. I don't think that JC is simply a terrible investor with lousy intuition, he's actually aware of how bad this and simply doing his job by defending Corel. There's nothing personal about this: it's a question of not letting a poorly run company continue to issue hollow rhetoric as a substitute for performance. JC took his marbles and went home when he couldn't have it his way: good riddance.
