JC - here's what I did. I loaded the "ILOVEYOU" post onto a laptop then disconnected from the network. I attempted to open the offending post. The macro, which is unsigned, did not execute and I got a message saying that the Macro was unsigned or not from a trusted source. That was the DEFAULT for my Office2000 setup.

I then went in and intentionally LOWERED the security level to medium and did the same thing. This time. I got a message saying that the macro was unsigned or not from a trusted source and such macros might contain viruses which could damage my system, did I want to continue? I said NO.

So the reality is that the default on the current office product does not execute this macro unless the user has INTENTIONALLY lowered security, and furthermore ignores the virus warning.

I'm sure you did not try this or you would not be taking the somewhat ignorant position you are posting... try it and see, don't take my word for it.
